Myanmar is finalising its COVID-19 vaccination plan, said Union Minister for Health and Sport Dr Myint Htwe during a video conference on January 10.

The plan will be submitted to the National-level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 for approval as soon as possible, he said.

The minister said that the process is very close to completion, and the respective personnel and members of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group are coordinating with each other to sort out details such as storage and distribution which can be somewhat complex.

Priority groups would be selected to receive the vaccines. They will be chosen in accordance with guidance and instructions from the national-level central committee and suggestions from the World Health Organisation (WHO), among others.

Plans for the transportation, storage and distribution of the vaccines are in place so vaccination can be systematically performed once they are received, said the minister.

The video conference also covered other important aspects such as preparations for the systematic storage of the COVID-19 vaccines at the recommended temperature depending on their types, locations for vaccination, educating people on the vaccine’s side effects, and the appropriate response to these effects. – Translated
